The Story Behind The Song
I THOUGHT WE HAD MORE TIME is a song about the ordinary conversations we never realize will become the last ones.
There was no dramatic goodbye. No final speech. No warning that one simple December conversation would become a memory I would carry forever.
My father lived a long life. My parents shared nearly a lifetime together. And yet when someone is part of your world for that long, somehow you still believe there will always be another Christmas, another phone call, another visit, another chance to say what matters.
Then one day there isn't.
This song is about my father, my mother, grief, memory and the lesson their absence left behind.
We spend so much of life believing there will be more time.
More time to call. More time to visit. More time to forgive. More time to listen. More time to say I love you.
Maybe the lesson is not to stop grieving the people we lost.
Maybe it is to make sure grief does not steal the time we still have with the people who are here.
BLOOD FROM THE NORTH Some stories are written. These were lived.
